House and Class Saints
House System
St Marys Catholic Primary school has a House system. The Houses give our pupil’s a sense of belonging and pride through collective participation in feast days, competitions, sporting events, homework tasks as well as fundraising events for charities.
This vertical House group nurtures a sense of belonging and identity, as well as encouraging us to use the lives of their saint as inspiration and for guidance. Our pupils are encouraged to learn about and emulate the virtues of their House Saint. Each pupil wears their saint badge with pride. Our pupils are placed in their House whilst in our Reception class. Families are placed in the same House.

Class Saints
Each class has been named after a saint. Saints have been chosen for different reasons including their age, coming from different walk of life, period of history, and relevant to our school and wider community. During the school year we get to study our class saint and use their lives and wise words to help us to become kinder, more caring, more loving to each other and to our families.
By following their lives, we are developing a deeper understanding of our own faith, and the special role that God has given each of us, us in the world he has created.
