Homework Information for Parents

At St. Mary's, we believe that homework plays a vital role in reinforcing learning and supporting our children's educational journey. Homework is set for all children from Year 1 through to Year 6, with Early Years children receiving practical tasks to be completed at home. The assignments are tailored to reflect each child's age and stage of development, and new homework is issued every Monday.

All homework tasks are shared on Google Classroom. Children receive their login details at the start of the academic year, which can be conveniently found inside their reading record covers. We kindly ask parents to retain these details for future reference.

Reading is a priority for all children at St. Mary's. We expect children to read frequently with an adult at home, and we ask that a comment or signature is entered in their reading record each week. It is essential that your child arrives at school daily with their reading book and record.

We utilise several online platforms to enhance our homework provision:

  • Google Classroom: Homework and spellings are posted here; please check regularly.

  • MyMaths: Weekly homework is assigned on this platform, and we encourage children to complete tasks independently.

  • Spelling Shed: Weekly spellings are available here, offering a fun method for practice, though we also recommend written exercises to aid in letter formation and handwriting.

  • Times Table Rockstars: This platform features weekly times table practice for Key Stage 2, a particular focus for Year 4 as they prepare for the Year 4 Times Table Test.

We offer homework clubs throughout the week to support our families. Thank you for your support in helping your child succeed!
