Catholic Life and Mission
All of our children are involved in the Catholic Life and Mission of our school. At St. Mary's, Christ is at the heart of all that we do. St. Mary's is a child-centered school where our children are given the opportunity, voice and resposibility to help to shape our school community. Throughout their time at school, children are supported in becoming reflective and to work out what it means to live a Christ-cetered life. We consistently put our school's mission statement into practice.
Love God, love others, love ourselves
With our mission statement in mind, we are commited to upholding the rich traditions and values of our Catholic faith. Our curriculum integrates religious teaching seamlessly into daily lessons and lives, providing children with a holistic understanding of their faith. Through prayer, scripture and participation, we empower children to deepen their relationship with God and to embrace the teachings of Jesus.
Year of St. Francis
The Year of St Francis is a special time for the Church and school community to reflect on the life and example of St Francis of Assisi, who showed deep love for God, for others, and for all of creation. Inspired by his simplicity, humility, and care for the poor, we are called to live out our faith through acts of kindness, stewardship, and compassion. St Francis reminds us that everything we have is a gift from God, and that we have a responsibility to care for the world around us, especially the most vulnerable. During this year, we seek to follow his example by promoting peace, protecting creation, and putting our faith into action in our daily lives.
Lent at St. Mary's
As a school community, we all worked together during Lent to grow our relationship with The Lord. Each day, we completed a task, some at school and some at home. We shared our daily Lenten promise each morning to help us to keep God in our hearts and minds throughout this special liturgical time.
A very special thanks to the Mini Vinnie Club for putting the calendar together for us all. We appreciate this act of service.
Harvest Time
During Harvest, we collected donations for SVP food banks. Thank you to our school community for such generosity! These very kind contributions will go to help the most needy in our society. At this time, we pray for those who have less than we have.
We had a very special assembly and Mrs. Reilly from the parish came to collect all of our donations with her team of volunteers. They have truly inspired us and reminded us of the value of giving up our time for others.
Rosay Month
October is a special time in our Catholic calendar — The Month of the Holy Rosary — and our children have embraced this with great enthusiasm. This week a dedicated Rosary Group has gathered in prayer, reflecting on the life of Jesus and Mary. It has been wonderful to see so many pupils choosing to spend this time in quiet reflection and devotion. We are raising money for Missio.
The Big Lent Walk
The children of St. Mary's collectively walked over 250 miles to raise money for CAFOD. We spent the day in the beautiful Epping Forest reflecting on the beauty of God's creation. In doing so, our generous families raised over £700 to help CAFOD provide help to poor communities, regardless of faith and culture. Thank you for your generosity!
God's Planet
To celebrate our school feast day, we enjoyed a visit from the Rise theatre company who performed God's Planet. We learned of different ways to take care of our home and linked to our Catholic Social Teaching Principle of Creation. We are all stewards of God's planet.
