Our Partnership With Others
The Governors and staff are committed to the Catholic nature of the school working hard to promote an atmosphere where people feel welcomed and valued in accordance with the Catholic ethos. There is a strong partnership between parish and school with children participating in parish Masses and events.
Harvest Festival is celebrated with the whole school and the Parish with their harvest gifts distributed within the local community. Lent and Advent collections regularly support the work of the Brentwood Catholic Children's Society, CAFOD or our other annual nominated charities. At Christmas pupils sing to the residents of a local Residential Care Home.
The children organise fundraising campaigns for our nominated charity appeals. We combine fundraising efforts for local charities, for example, Haven House, Brentwood Catholic Children's Society to a more global focus for example, Mary's Backpacks.
Class teachers are encouraged to foster links with the local community. The children regularly visit local venues for example, Reception class visit the local café, and a local nursery school; visits to a local restaurant and the local library.
The school is represented at many local events including the Chingford Festival.
The annual Summer Fayre attracts the local community as well as our parents and children. Local businesses who contribute to the Annual Summer Fayre raising funds for resources have a direct impact on teaching and learning at our school.
Strong links exist between St Mary's and Trinity Catholic High School, our feeder Secondary School. Our pupils regularly take part in events organised by Trinity, such as Science Week and sporting activities. St Mary's welcomes pupils from Trinity to undertake their work experience at our school.
We have good links with the neighbouring C of E Primary School, using their facilities for Sports Day and in turn inviting classes from the C of E Primary School to join our children for workshops/theatre groups hosted at St Mary's.
St Mary's is part of the Aquinas Teaching and Learning Trust and works collaboratively with Trinity Catholic High School, Holy Family Secondary School, Our Lady & St George's Primary School, St Patrick's, St Joseph Infants, St Joseph Juniors and St John's Special School.
Our overall aim is to ensure we establish partnerships to ensure effective collaboration and school improvement in all schools.
